When Will it Be: Us ‘And’ Them?

When Will it Be:

Us “AND” Them?

Instead of

Us “VS” Them ?

The defining characteristic of our time is that as we interact with one another, the emphasis - albeit unconscious - is on what’s ‘different’ between us, as opposed to what’s ‘shared’. This is the underlying basis for the fortification of Ego which is then further expanded on and compounded by our society.

One can wonder why there is division, injustice and cruelty in our world? Yet how could there be harmony when by default we buy into a system that perpetuates a ‘ranking of ideas’. If you’re European/American, just think of how scandalous it is to go against the status quo of materialistic science - to enquire what’s outside a capitalistic economic model or suggest that all of this technological ‘progress’ is not for the overall betterment of us collectively. It’s heresy and it doesn’t warrant any space in the discussion.

But the collective is quite literally formed by the congregation of separate individuals. How honestly can we look at ourselves instead of the other and see what prejudices we hold?

Look at what ideas are so deeply imbedded that we’ve forgotten that they once had to be planted in the fertile bed of our unobstructed, unbiased, innocent minds? For all the talk of progress we still haven’t probed into the reasons why there is so much division. Why do we feel so compelled to denounce the other, to damn their ideas and to turn away? Is it because we try to solve the problems with under the same framework that created them?

We persuade to convert instead of radically accepting?

To shame to death what we don’t see as worthy instead of incorporating in to a spectrum?

All while incessantly trying to prove a point instead of just gaining humility?

We can make more progress in one brief moment compared to the eons that have come before us if we were to just momentarily suspend our differences and recognise what is common, shared and inherent between us all.

The biology, the emotional body, the fears, love and dreams, all whole heartedly felt and understood by each one of the 8 billion people. A testimony that is sacrosanct and doesn’t require adherence to any nation, state, scientific or religious worldview.

It sounds too simplistic right?

It’s only simplistic for a mind that has been polluted and conditioned to think that in order to arrive to the promised land of love and unity that there must be first a battle and a gaining over another. That there must be a great intellectual endeavor.

Yet this comes right back to the prejudices and ideas we hold to be true.

The shift from me VS you, to me AND you is the biggest act of rebellion of our time. It could be the seismic shift we all yearn for.

And due to its simplicity it requires great strength.

For the path least taken is not a well worn path. So simple it might be yes, easy it is not.

But together it can be walked.

So this is my prayer. This my hope... for Me AND for You
